Nyerges & Partners has successfully advised R.Power Renewables on the long‑term BESS optimisation agreement concluded with GEN‑I, d.o.o. for the Scornicești 127 MW / 254 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Romania.

Co‑owned with Eiffel Investment Group, the Scornicești BESS project is a flagship scheme for R.Power Renewables and one of the largest energy storage facilities in Romania to secure a long‑term optimisation contract. Under the agreement, GEN‑I will act as the exclusive commercial optimiser and trading partner for Scornicești BESS project, being responsible for the full commercial optimisation of the asset across wholesale electricity markets and ancillary service mechanisms, including market optimisation, revenue management, and real-time dispatching.

Nyerges & Partners advised on all Romanian law aspects of the optimisation agreement, including regulatory compliance, contract structuring, and performing the mandatory registration and reporting formalities.

We are proud to continue our long-term collaboration with R.Power by advising on this landmark optimisation agreement for one of Romania’s largest BESS projects,” said Mihaela Nyerges, Managing Partner at Nyerges & Partners. “The transaction involved navigating multiple contractual and regulatory complexities, reflecting both the innovative nature of such agreement and the evolving legislative framework. R.Power’s vision and commitment to advancing energy storage solutions set a benchmark in the Romanian market, and it is a privilege for our team to support them with trusted, tailored legal guidance on this groundbreaking project.”

The project led by Mihaela Nyerges (Managing Partner), supported by Horia Ispas (Partner), Irina Moinescu (Counsel) and Roberta‑Emilia Roca (Junior Associate).
